Matt Dittrich is the Founder and Managing Director of Blue Wood Capital, LLC. Following his MBA at Yale University, Matt consulted venture backed startups in the Pacific Northwest and helped establish “The Fort” – a center for innovation at Fortive (FTV) – where Matt launched internal startups and drove operational excellence for portfolio companies. Matt began his career on the management consulting team at Bain & Company in London, United Kingdom and then served as the Market Development Manager for the CEO of nLIGHT (LASR) – growing the company across four continents and laying the financial groundwork for an IPO in 2018.
Matt has contributed in the search fund ecosystem since 2017 when he was a Summer Associate at Trilogy Search Partners, collaborating with the fund’s Managing Directors on dozens of deals. A two-time Teaching Fellow at Yale University for Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition and Leading Small and Medium Enterprises, Matt advised several Yale searchers. Matt founded the Yale Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition Club and championed University-wide entrepreneurship initiatives as Co-President of the Entrepreneurship Club and Yale University Senator.
Matt attended Whitman College on a ‘full ride’ scholarship, graduated cum laude and served in student government for four years including as student body President and Student Representative to the College Board of Trustees. Today Matt is a Director on the College Alumni Board and regularly mentors first generation and underrepresented students. Matt is a 5th-generation Washington State wheat farmer, has worked and explored across six continents and is an aspiring pilot, sailor and dog runner.
